WWW: Your Photoshop fruit bowl is outstanding – real creative skills and a clear understanding of colour palettes! 

EBI: One piece of unfinished work – you haven’t completed the final two questions on the initial 10 question blog task (on the female Doctor). In general, you need to work on the depth of your analysis – most of your work so far is simply one sentence for each aspect.  For example, on the denotation and connotation task (Pringles advert) you are missing the crucial aspect of the design – the fire to connote the hot and spicy flavour. You need to be picking up on these aspects and writing about them in more detail to reach the higher grades.

LR: Complete the final two questions you are missing on the first blog task. Then, reflect on your first month of Media. What do you feel is your strongest piece of work so far? What is your weakest? What specific skills or knowledge do you need to develop over the rest of the course? How can you improve the depth and detail of your media analysis.


My strongest piece of work would be my connotation and denotation on the advert.

  Class: Audience and Industry blog tasks Audience 1) What were the viewing figures for Class and why do you think it did so badly? The viewing figures for Class started from over a million but then the last episode only had 0.28 million. I think it did so badly because most people didn't like the spin-off of Doctor Who since it was targeted towards much maturer audiences and wasn't as interesting as the original Doctor Who. OMO advert

1) What year was the advert produced? The advert was produced in 1955 2) How were women represented in most adverts in the 1950s? They were represented as housewife's. 3) How does the heading  message ('OMO makes whites bright') and typography promote the product? It promotes the product as it's the best cleaning product and that millions of women use the product. 4) Analyse the mise-en-scene in the advert (CLAMPS): how is costume, make-up and placement of the model used to suggest women's role in society?
