Reception theory

1) What is the preferred reading of a media text?
This is the message or ideology/belief the producers want you to go away with.

2) What is the oppositional reading of a media text?
This is when the consumer takes away an opposite message or idealogy/belief than the producers want you to go away with.

3) How does the Harry Brown trailer position the audience to respond to the teenage characters in the film?
The preferred reading for the Harry brown trailer is that young people are rude, aggressive and violent

4) Why might young people reject this reading and construct an oppositional reading of the trailer?
The oppositional reading is for the Harry Brown trailer is that young people are actually good and kind.

5) In the advert, the preferred reading is that a lot of people would have the urge to buy it as it looks delicious and mouth watering. As the text below the picture explains how good it is so people will be intrigued to buy it.

An oppositional reading would be its bad as its unhealthy and a lot of adults would want their kids to have healthy food, such as homemade food as it has a lot of nutrients, proteins and other good stuff.

The negotiating reading is that a lot of people want the food but know its unhealthy for them.

The preferred reading is that you should buy them and a lot of teenagers+adults who do sport would be intrigued as the shoes look good.It also has white bold text saying their saying their slogan "JUST DO IT" probably preferring us to buy it.And the text saying "RUN ON AIR" suggests the shoe is light weighted.

The oppositional reading is that its too expensive and to light.

The negotiated reading is that the shoes are really good and we should definitely buy it but its too expensive.
